Look around

Mountains and prairies, forests and wildlife, courteous and spirited people, historic and cultural attractions. You've found Okotoks, in the heart of foothills country.

From your first visit, you'll know that Okotoks is someplace special. Our parks invite family picnics and the activities around town will provide entertainment for everyone in your group, year round.

Located in one of Alberta's finest recreation areas, Okotoks is an outdoor place. Alternating terrains of discovery reveal rivers, valleys, meadows and mountains. You can enjoy the quiet serenity of museums, libraries, the cultural centre, or the pristine Sheep River Valley.

For the more adventurous, there's fishing, hiking and access to three local courses to test your golfing skills

Activities

  • Big Rock
"The Big Rock" is an enormous glacial erratic – a rock transported far from its place of origin by glacial ice. The Okotoks Erratic is the largest known rock in the Foothills Erratics Train, a group of rocks that were carried by ice along the mountain front and let down as the glacier melted more than 10,000 years ago.
  • Millarville Farmer's Market(May-Oct)
The people behind the tables at the Millarville Farmers' market are the real deal. They are the growers, farmers, makers, bakers, and artists. Ask them about their farm, their art, their love of what they do. I will also let you in on a secret…rainy days are awesome days to come here. Wear your rubber boots and rain coat. It's not as busy, vendors have time to talk and we all pull together to have a great time no matter the weather.
